Unless you have a concern about a specific and unnatural contaminant in your water (for example, leakage of sheep dip) then the following standard tests will indicate whether your water meets current purity standards. In the case of the chemical analysis a mortgage lender will normally insist upon seeing the full analysis. You may, however, specify a reduced range of tests for individual parameters such as nitrates or lead etc. Failed analysis? |

Instructions: 1. The sterile bottle must not be opened until immediately before the sample is taken. It must be used within 1 year of issue. 2. If possible, take the sample from the final outlet point of the water supply (usually the kitchen tap!). Run the water for a few minutes, turn off the tap then wipe around the outlet with the "Mediswab" (provided) to kill off any surface bacteria. 3. Fill the sterile bottle quickly, screw the top on firmly and bring it to Chave & Jackson immediately. 4. Samples for analysis must be less than 5 hours old and may be brought in between 9.00 am and 12.00 noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only to: Chave & Jackson Ltd, 6/7 Broad Street, Hereford, HR4 9AE - map 5. Please use an insulated cool box (the ice packs inside need to be placed in a freezer for at least 2 hours before use). The sample must be kept at 4°C 6. If the water supply to be tested is an infrequently used well, then it is advisable to pump out the water to waste. Let the well refill and then take your sample. |
